Reconnaissance Squadron Transfer of Command Authority - Kandahar Province
By Major M.N. Popov, Officer Commanding B Squadron, The Royal Canadian Dragoons
At 0800hrs on the15th of October 2009, B Sqn, 12e Regiment blindé du Canada (12eRBC) transferred command authority to B Sqn of The Royal Canadian Dragoons, the Task Force 3-09 Battle Group Reconnaissance Squadron. We will continue the work that has started and continue to improve upon the successes of our brothers and sisters before us. On behalf of all ranks of B Sqn RCD, we thank everyone from Task Force 1-09 for an excellent handover and wish you Godspeed on a safe return home to your families.
I would like to thank all the soldiers of B Squadron 12e Regiment for their excellent work throughout their tour of duty in Afghanistan and the standards they have set. The command team of Maj Cauden and MWO Pelletier have set the conditions for our success with an excellent handover of the area of operations. They and all Task Force 1-09 soldiers provided us invaluable experience and lessons learnt that we will apply to our operations.
This deployment marks B Squadron RCD’s third Afghan deployment. Since January 2005, The Royal Canadian Dragoons has deployed seven reconnaissance squadrons to Afghanistan, and Dragoon soldiers continue to train and deploy to support Canada’s continuing commitment to the Afghan mission.
