May 2010
Dear B Sqn Families,
The Regiment has been staying very busy, and the hanger lines seem a little empty with the lack of people on the ground due to operations. Before you know it, B Sqn will be back in Petawawa and enjoying some well deserved rest.
Within the Regiment we have B Sqn returning from Afghanistan, A Sqn deploying to replace B Sqn, our personnel attached to the OMLT deploying, and it is all happening just before summer block leave and posting season. The remainder of the Regiment is staying busy with courses, taskings, and supporting domestic operations operation with in Canada. Although the tempo here is busy, it makes time go by quickly. The Regiment plans on taking its summer leave block during the late July and early August time frame. Not only do the troops coming back need the rest, but the families deserve some rest for their efforts and accomplishments in keeping the home front running smoothly. The plan now is for B Sqn complete to arrive back in Petawawa on May 20, 2010 at approximately 0300 hrs. The soldiers will enjoy May long weekend prior to their 3 half days at work. Then they will be off to enjoy some much deserved family time and relaxation. The Regiment is aware of the tension that families go through during the tour and have arranged for the returning troops to get all the family time they need and deserve.
After speaking with B Sqn’s second in command, he was able to relate to me how impressed other countries, and other units from within Canada, were any time they were involved with B Sqn. The Sqn is doing an extremely good job and has been noted on numerous occasions for their abilities and effectiveness. The efforts of B Sqn are making a real difference in the lives of the people of Afghanistan, and you should be proud of the hard work done by your loved ones.
Although it still seems like a long time before they get home, before you know it summer will be over, it will be September and we will be having our first snow storm again. I hope these letters have been helpful through the last few months. Please, enjoy your time with your loved one.
Bold and Swift
