RV2012
Ladies and Gents
The Kingston Chapter of the Royal Canadian Dragoons Association has proudly taken over the responsibility of organizing the RCD Assn Reunion 2012. After much debate at the last reunion, in Petawawa the name was asked to be changed. That being the case (RV) Rendez Vous came to mind. There were many points we had to RV at during our careers in the Regiment, and then there was the Exercise RV 1983/85/87/92. So we named the Reunion (RV) Rendez Vous 2012. We think it has a good ring to it, and an appropriate name for an Assn Rendez Vous or RV. We were also looking at, what the theme may be. There was question of the closing of Afghanistan or another Campaign of some sort, and after many sleepless nights we decided that in the time and space of many Assn members careers, they would have, or could have spent time in Germany. This time frame was 1957-1987. The Regiment is willing to assist in formulating some pictures and artefacts from that era.
We've started the process and secured a location familiar to all that attend the 2005 reunion in Kingston. The dates and location selected for RV 2012 is 15-17 JUNE 2012 at the Ambassador Hotel Conference Resort. This proved yet again, it would be the best place to conduct RV 2012. It's large capacity to deliver the goods for huge groups, or just a family resort for the weekend, is amazing with full amenities.
We have been offered very comfortable newly renovated rooms at a reduced rate of $119.00 per night with additional upgraded rooms of your choice, if you wish to be more than just comfortable, at very competitive rates. The Kingston Chapter asks that you book with this hotel vice another, due to contractual agreements and waivers of some additional cost when we have a minimum of 75 booked hotel rooms, or more, and to use the wording " Dragoons RV 2012" when booking your room! This is important!
The meal that will be a served is a Hip of Beef with all the trimmings as a single menu item, however if you have dietary needs, there may be a vegetarian single item menu offered, only if we have received your special requirements annotated on your paid registration form.
The registration form will be placed in the Dragoon and also on the Regimental web site after it's construction mode is complete. I have attached the form to this e-mail. Paul Ward the Kingston Chapter Treasurer will soon be in position to start collecting registration forms and cheques for your attendance to RV 2012.
This year the cost of RV 2012 will be $75.00, broken down it will be $60.00 for the meal, and $15.00 for the meet and greet. This money will also be used for other unexpected costs relating to your comfort and enjoyment.
We are in the planning phases of this event and we are looking for an option for the ladies to attend an additional outing during the morning of the Association General Meeting on Saturday. This event could be a boat cruise or shopping downtown. However it's only in the planning phases and we are looking at transportation and such.
We do acknowledge that we are one year out from this point however for the Kingston Chapter we must keep forging a head with work to make this RV here in Kingston a success. That being the case you are requesting you to start you planning process to be part of this venture. We the Kingston Chapter are looking for your continued support of RV 2012 and also looking forward to seeing you here June 2012.
